Germany is a country with a mix of modern cities, charming small towns, and beautiful natural landscapes.

The Alps in the South are perfect for outdoor activities, offering hiking trails in the summer and skiing in the winter. The Black Forest provides scenic views and peaceful trails for nature lovers. Small towns like Rothenburg ob der Tauber offer medieval charm, that in larger cities was unfortunately destroyed in WWII.

German cities offer a mix of rich history and modern culture. Berlin has a modern vibe and old Prussian historical landmarks. Munich is a technological powerhouse and Frankfurt’s old town still looks like it did in the time of Goethe.

Food is hearty and meaty, though the country itself believes it is best known for its bread. The bread is good, even if it isn’t widely known.

Don’t miss out on regional specialties like the famous Bavarian beer and sausages. Christmas markets are a popular way to experience the festive side of Germany, with plenty of traditional treats and naturally ‘adult’ drinks.

Germany is easy to travel around by train; even the smallest towns are often connected by train, though given the current state of the mainline train service, a rental car is recommended.
